Elevator Inspection Section
The Elevator Inspection Section approves plans and specifications and issues permits for the installation of all new, altered or relocated elevators, escalators, moving walks, dumbwaiters, material lifts, stairway chairlifts, wheelchair lifts, vertical reciprocating conveyors and other related devices to be installed in public or residential applications. The Elevator Inspection Section also inspects all new and existing elevators, escalators, moving walks and other lifts on a yearly basis and issues certificates of operation. This section also performs investigations of accidents or incidents involving elevators, escalators, moving walks and all related equipment.
